Julie Nathanielsz, MFA, has been an initiator of and collaborator on numerous professional and community-based projects in a diversity of communities of movers since 1996. ~ Julie has taught dance independently as well as for Texas State University and Austin Community College, leading classes in technique, improvisation, and somatic practice. She is a certified teacher of Skinner Releasing™ at the On-Going level. ~ Noted for its “deep exploration, poetic connections, and relentless questioning of the body”, Julie’s artistic work has received recognition over the years from the Austin Critics Table for choreography, curation, performance, sound design, and ensemble performance. She was a Fulbright Senior Scholar in 2016-2017. ~ A Licensed Massage Therapist in private practice in Texas since 2003, Julie also has experience working with Dr Sylvia Deily of Seton Brain and Spine Institute. Informed by a healthy regard for anatomy, physiology, eastern and western medicine, Julie's approach to bodywork focuses on supporting clarity of movement and gesture in any life activity. A life long dancer, Julie has trained in several modalities with bodywork applications, including Body-Mind Centering© with Margery Segal, Qi Gong with Master Li Junfeng, Anusara Yoga with Charly Pivert, and Amerta Movement with its originator, master teacher Suprapto Suryodarmo.
